I have to chime in. I purchased a BRAND NEW GMC Sierra with the 3.0 Duramax. Im not happy!!!I just towed a 2022 Rockwood Mini-lite from Omaha to Milwaukee. Here is my experience. 1. The trip was 500 miles, we used 3.75 gallons of def fluid, 46 gallons of diesel fuel and 1 qt of oil? This 500 mile trip cost about $200 or about $.39 per mile. If I had my old Ford F150 3,.5 Ecoboost using regular gas the I would be at about $.30 per mile. How does diesel make sense. 2. Plus! pulling that 22' camper around gas stations looking for the 1 or 2 pumps that have diesel fuel was a pain. The big stations cater almost exclusively to semis and the pumps do not fit the GMC. One fuel Stop I had to goto to 3 gas stations to find 1 with an operation diesel pump, don't know why but again a serious PIA. 3. Between low fuel warnings and Low DEF warnings, I decided this Sierra with only 1,400 miles HAS TO GO. I will take the loss and either get a Sierra with the 6.2 or go back to the 3.5 Eco. MY ADVICE, stay away from the Duramax. I do have a diesel jeep and its way more efficient. Комментарий от : @jeffswanson3413 |
I noticed ever since I saw the video first uploaded. It looks orange in the thumbnail lol Комментарий от : @IATODTT |
so with daily driving a diesel do you save money becouse desel is like a dollar or more per gallon Комментарий от : @zackriden79 |
A real truck has a diesel Комментарий от : @ryanvtec3885 |
I picked up my 2022 RST Crew Cab 3.0 last Saturday. Basically 8 miles on the odometer when I picked it up with a full tank. Just over 200 miles on it and I'm at 3/4 tank still. Rides smooth. Torquey. Quiet. Has Z71 package on it. Comes also with heated seats and steering wheel but that's not hooked up yet - supply chain issues. I was always a Ram guy but this truck may easily convince me otherwise... Комментарий от : @trumpsupporter3485 |
I've always been interested in the Duramax 2.8 litre and 3.0 Turbo Diesel engines. I hope for GM's sake they're still being produced and offered here in the USA.
I'm getting 28 average top mpg 42.5 Комментарий от : @ernestmorales1023 |
About 9000klt b4 def refill So far Комментарий от : @ncut5547 |
It has the same numbers as my 2001 ram 2500 cummins and it was great towing. Комментарий от : @msg63bretired82 |
Can you tow 10,000 with this truck on a trip?? Комментарий от : @GH-el9ch |
I feel like this 3 liter should go in the Colorado/canyon, and there should be either a larger displacement v6 or smaller displacement V8 in the half tons, this engine just isn't competitive, especially when the Ecoboost has more torque and horsepower, costs less, and has a comparable torque curve Комментарий от : @connorpetry7698 |
Please don't rev a cold diesel engine. Комментарий от : @rmccain99 |
If i get 21mpg with my 5.0 F150, and, this truck gets 30mpg with diesel, how much does it cost to drive thirty miles. About the same. Here in Minnesota, diesel sells for a premium of about 70 cents above regular gas. With the difference in price, the fuel savings does not mean a lower price per mile of driving. And, with my 5.0 i get a more powerful engine that is cheaper to buy, and, probably cheaper to fix. I have a 2014 truck with the older transmission, so, it might be even better with the newer 6 and 10 speed automatics. Given the choice, i will stick with my tried and true Coyote 5.0. YES!!! EVERYTHING THAT I DO NOT NEED!!! Комментарий от : @arturovalderrama4626 |
Id be doing the ole delete and getting rid that gross start stop feature. Wonder how long the ball bearing turbo will hold up Комментарий от : @Neutsie |
Def is a pain. Cow piss. Комментарий от : @sirloinofbeef3862 |
Just saw a detailed review on the engineering of this 3.0 Duramax. NO SALE Комментарий от : @brownwrench |
Is this the 3L Duramax that is designed like shit on shit by confused money loving common core indoctrinated so called engineers, Комментарий от : @benjaminp6924 |
Unfortunately this duramax engine is made from cast aluminium ( not tested for reliability or longevity at all) so good luck owning this pick up truck, down side also fuel tank capacity 24 gallon. Compare it with Ram Eco diesel 3 genraton has a 33 gallon tank and a cast iron block which is the best choice . In addition to that exterior and interior design is top notch in Ram ♥️ Комментарий от : @samerqamar5786 |
Internal belt driven oil pump... Комментарий от : @lonelybikr |
Fiel economy in alaska in the winter months 17 mpg average as the temp goes up so will the milage Комментарий от : @blhornertube |
It's a great platform after 5000 miles I tell you my gripe is the suspension it suvks its terrible its worse then terrible I carry a 100 gal transfer tank I only put 50 gals in it cause the truck will not handle the wait the bumps cause it to bottom out can't wait for some aftermarket suspension upgrades Комментарий от : @blhornertube |
This video looks like a Russian 8th grade art project Комментарий от : @jimbo5635 |
smaller engine than a ford ranger lmao Комментарий от : @archerd9484 |
I just order a 2021 yesterday. I live in my truck while on the road working most of the year. I went with the Crew cab 6'7" bed option and will be building it out for pickup camping. Big jump up from my Nissan Frontier I did the same thing in. Комментарий от : @JCDropshot |
Put it in an impala and watch it do 0-62 in 5 seconds and 45 mpg. Look up euro spec e46 330d. They were rwd, had 3 liter straight six and drove so well and you could get them in a manual. Комментарий от : @Internet_Spy |
I get 28.4 mpg with my Ecodiesel. I don't use A/C and radio so no parasitic energy usage. I have the 2020 Ecodiesel and drive 24 miles to and from work. lunch time is a 10 mile sprint uphill to gym with minimal loss. As long as i keep the order: 3am gym near work, to work, lunch, to gym near home. I keep increasing MPG. Sure it gets 9.5 mpg with tow but so what... its a truck. Комментарий от : @kbutt5471 |
To bad you need to pull the transmission at 150,000 miles to change the oil pump belt. Yes it is true, look it up. Комментарий от : @tomg6284 |
My 2020 Silverado duramax is the best truck in my opinion!! I am getting 29.7mpg all day!! Комментарий от : @richardforschler2448 |
hi guys got a ? for u would u pick the Chevrolet 6.2 gas or 3.0 duramax I have driven both and can't decide just was wondering what your opion was thanks keep bring awesome videos 👍 Комментарий от : @kyleerickson3382 |
Maybe if he tried he could his hands more when he talks Комментарий от : @sethfrompolson |
Time will only tell, GM has made some big blunders in the past! I'm a Chevy/GM C man have owned forty GM Cars and Trucks. Комментарий от : @gordonmckenney4525 |
Wonder how long that Bicycle trimming chain will last on the 3.0 adiesel! Комментарий от : @gordonmckenney4525 |
I thought this was a family friendly channel? Tossing out "F"(Ford) bombs...not cool. Комментарий от : @TakeDeadAim |
Now we wait for allison to make a mini transmission Комментарий от : @aideningram434 |

What kind of transmission is the truck have Комментарий от : @mikepallotta3939 |
Anyone have to change the oil pump belt yet? Wondering what that cost? Комментарий от : @franknowakowski3103 |
Too bad Government Motors (GM) cant figute out how to paint the frame properly. These trucks are over priced and still rust like nobodies business. Комментарий от : @bkretschmann90 |
Notice the rear timing chain. Nope and nope Комментарий от : @gregbird6615 |
42k truck with a belt driven motor .. No thnx Комментарий от : @blooddrunk3330 |

Belt Driven Oil Pump. Hard pass. Комментарий от : @chadatkinson5091 |
gm gets more disapointing every year. not only that the diesel is ultra high matenance.but the brand in general is allways looki g over the fence at europiean designs.u know the highest cost to own vichles and for some reason there thying to run with euro technolidgy. try thinking for your selves again.maby the brand will be great again.i have been a gm man my hole life as is my father.i an a mechanic for 30 years and am leaning to honda and toyota.never thaut that would ever happen.but they see. to be still ha ging on to quality.and ps whats with all the plastic crap yous are putting all around your engines like thermostatt housings ect.gm.s used cars are not worth crap there getting the hyunday reputation.🤔🤔 Комментарий от : @shawngates138 |
Just bought one love it chevy rules 🤣🤣🤣👍 Комментарий от : @graysquirreltreeservice7299 |
Piece of crap. Комментарий от : @Teporame |
Please dump that over hype music! It detracts. It does not enhance. Why must every content provider do this? I had to stop half way through. Комментарий от : @misterwango8156 |
Let's see: "lifetime" timing chain on the back of the engine with plastic tensioners that requires transmission to be dropped for access? Check. 150K-mile service interval wet-belt driven oil pump in the back of the engine that requires transmission to be dropped to be replaced? Check. Ultra-High-Pressure fuel pump facing the back of the engine that requires either the engine to be pulled out or (you guessed it) dropping the transmission? Check. Aluminum block diesel with active cooling passages directed by plastic directional valve? Check. Electronic-driven plastic flapper valve on intake manifold? Check. Might ask some Audi S4 V8 owners what they think of these brilliant ideas. Комментарий от : @LuizStocklerHenrique |
The 3.5 Diesel will NOT last as long as the larger duramax 8 cylinder. To many add ons to comply with emissions DEF Комментарий от : @dialdoc5704 |
Biggest piles of shits. Комментарий от : @JayNayMay |
Are they putting them in Mooney’s also?😁 Комментарий от : @1EVILZ06 |
Stay far away From GM/CHEVY Folks as the quality is horrible.....You want a good truck Buy a Ford or Toyota as Consumer reports also agree …. Scotty Kilmer Also will tell you stay away from GM!! Комментарий от : @toddbob55 |
most all of us have 4 wd trucks would like to see a test on fuel mileage thank you Комментарий от : @prestongriffin416 |

Without the DURAMAX label sounds a gas engine that knocks a lot. Oh... by the way, I ran over my ex-wife with a DURAMAX. Комментарий от : @car24dude |
I'm not a truck guy, but there's something about a red pick up truck that draws me in. Комментарий от : @scarbourgeoisie |
It has a belt driven oil pump designed to fail about 150k. You have to drop the trans to access it. You won't be keeping this one for 200k. Another planned obsolescence GM gotcha. Комментарий от : @bigben7943 |
27 mpg 650 m tank Комментарий от : @KB-kn2cf |
It's a disgrace, wonderful achievements on miles per gallon but poor tank capacity, why GM didn't put at least 36 gallon tank size on this ? Комментарий от : @hemanferrales9868 |
where is the single cab sigh Комментарий от : @andiman45 |
Is the new 3.0l duramax much more reliable than the v8 Комментарий от : @vincentlaberge2051 |
Looks like a small Cummins copy Комментарий от : @dr.who2 |
I dont understand why you would put a diesel engine in one of these. I cant even find a 10 year old gm truck that dosent need a complete body and frame replacement in Maine. Комментарий от : @brianmorrison9066 |
Any brand of truck last about 6 or 8 Maine winters before the fenders, rocker panels, cab supports, cab corners, frame rails, exc have all rusted away. If Boeing ban make a plane last 60 years, GM can make a ss frame, aluminum body truck. Комментарий от : @brianmorrison9066 |
We going back to pitting diesels in 1500 now Комментарий от : @johnnystruckchannel7851 |
Andres reaction lol WHAT? Комментарий от : @nightfall22 |
I wish they would make the 6.6l an Inline 6 Комментарий от : @compoundlml7156 |
Up to 30-33 mpg Комментарий от : @timothybraam6080 |
if Ford said 30 MPG its probably lower because you have to read their fine print , it will probably say "if you drive 55 mph you will get 30MPG. Thats what they did say on the eco boost.A guy at the GM dealership( when I was buying my GMC Sierra) said, " Im trading this ebo boost in because it does not get the mileage they state" . Then he told me about the fine print. He said,"who in the hell drives 55 on the interstate ." I would probably get killed." They need real world driving answers not to make their bogus claim. But fooling the consumer is a win , win. Комментарий от : @leespeyrer8424 |
you think that there will be an option where you can request a permanent belt in the oil pump⁉️ because the built this with a belt that is good only for 150,000 miles and the only way to replace this thing is by dropping the transmission‼️‼️ Комментарий от : @victorchavez9020 |
Belt driven oil pump that has to be changed at 150k and the only way is to remove the transmission. 👎 Комментарий от : @xlandscaper |
That’s cute.. Ram came up with this idea years ago Комментарий от : @Jose-C559 |
Too baby the rest of the truck will fail 20 years before the engine Комментарий от : @sheeznutz2254 |
How old old was that classic Chevy Suburban? Комментарий от : @hometheaterman1424 |
Are they ceramic ball bearings in the turbo? Комментарий от : @cliffordlatko1901 |
And the transmission already broke Комментарий от : @MGonz-cc9mf |
I’ll wait for dealer rebate + manufacturers rebate + end-of-year incentives + fleet & internet discounts + ..... Hopefully i can get one for $35k - $40k! Комментарий от : @Bacnow |
Problem with this engine is the maintenance on long term. The oil pump is in the rear of the engine that is belt driven. The transmission needs to come out. Not a brilliant design for long term. You wait in four years when they start to fail. Комментарий от : @ryanb8736 |
Wet belt driven oil pump at the rear of the engine, suggest replacement every 150k miles. R&R transmission just to get to it. Detroit Engineering at its best. Комментарий от : @f143744 |
That's a v8 diesel right? Комментарий от : @coltongarber8087 |
The bacground song sound the same as Donut Media's for Bumper 2 Bumper Комментарий от : @707Charles22 |
Love this truck its quick off the line it beats dodge dis Комментарий от : @ryansvloggingit5492 |
Silly question. Why are the led daytime lights strobing? Комментарий от : @williemaykit7940 |
Bed covers don’t improve fuel economy.... Комментарий от : @chrisr897 |
Put this engine in the Yukon and I’m sold tired of godamn gasser suv’s Комментарий от : @jethrobodine011 |
why is the tow rating so low???? Комментарий от : @JohnnyAnderson1 |
What's with the damn flashing strobe lights?? Can you turn those off or disable them? I am thinking about a new pickup, probably Chevy, and that would be a no deal. Комментарий от : @pl747 |
STOP REVING THE DAMN ENGINES!!! Just let the motor lobe at idle so TFL viewers can actually hear the engine run. Комментарий от : @christopherdalley411 |
has all this room on the side for an EGR Cooler lol Комментарий от : @brent440 |
So, I picked her up Saturday. I'm only 200 miles in, but I'm very impressed with power and smooth shifting this engine and transmission package has. The suspension is softer than I'd expect while driving, it feels just as big as my brother's Ram 3500, but not the stiff ride. If the on board MPG is accurate it will be more efficient than our Honda 0dyessy and I'm not even kidding. Комментарий от : @joelmellentine3641 |
Lol wtf! Toyota just said they can’t make the diesel trucks anymore but now Chevy says “LET ME TRY” Комментарий от : @testfortester7131 |
When are you going to make a video of the new Chevy Silverado 3.0 diesel in a test drive to see the mpg. Комментарий от : @JoseMendoza-wk6ip |
Sehr schön, endlich mal ein vernünftiger Motor der Spass macht. Daumen Hoch ! Aber diese schreckliche Antenne rechts im Jahr 2020, oder ist es für die Fahne ;-) Комментарий от : @specialghost001 |

I wouldn't be surprised if it's redesigned BMW diesel. I'm actually 90% sure it is Комментарий от : @serge9021000 |
