| Related Who are "the people losing their powers" now in the Bible, Daniel 12:7b, titled “The End Times”? The translation I have (ESV) reads “and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished”. I believe this shattering is referring to the intense persecution of the Christians and Jews that will occur during the tribulation period in the End Times. I think by the term “power”, it basically means that these holy people will be persecuted and killed to the point where there will be no one with the power of the Holy Spirit left on Earth, or that they will have no power to make any changes on earth due to the severe persecution. Someone who has a better understanding of the Greek/Hebrew texts might be able to better answer the literal meaning of some of the words, which may provide insight for you. Daniel himself did not understand these words for they were sealed. They remain sealed until the final days. These words become comprehensible only when they are unsealed. So to understand what these words mean it is therefore paramount that we understand what is this sealed word. The sealed word is mentioned in another book, of the Bible called Revelation. Revelation 5:1 refers to a sealed book with seven seals 'written within and on the backside'. It is this sealed book that was shown to Daniel. And he could not understand it for it was written in a language that would not be conceived in another two thousand years; English. Daniel was never told to seal up the book. The relevant verse reads as follows when the Lord tells him, ‘9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.’, The words were already sealed. Daniel is not only important because it identifies with the sealed book, it is the timelines in verse 12 that seem to tally with the timelines of the countdown to the return of Jesus in the book of Revelation that is fascinating. The seven seals written of by John in Revelation 5:1 are hidden in plain sight. And include the chapter and verse numbers of the Bible. Through these we can easily tell what Jesus meant by the sign of Jonah. These numbers also reveal the heart of the earth mystery talked about by Jesus in Matthew 12:40. The world is increasingly dark with sin and its consequences. Within that darkness, the light of love and truth shines ever brighter in contrast. And some of those who witness our fervent faith and worship, despite persecution and sorrow, will finally see Christ and His glory. They will be made righteous by the sacrifice made by Christ on the Cross for them, even before most were born. I believe you have to take ALL the Rapture (Catching up) scriptures together and they all must/should agree together and not contradict each other, and I do think that they do agree. Consider Daniel 12 scripture with the following: Matthew 24:30–31 & 1 Corinthians 15:51–54 & 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 & 1 Thessalonians 5:1–6 & 2 Thessalonians 2:1–12. Reading all of these will show that they reference the same event, the Rapture (catching up) of the Christians/Saints. If you study Daniel’s specific teachings about the the 70th Week and compare that with Christ teaching of Matthew 24 regarding the “End Days” and how to recognize them then I believe you will find that what Christ actually teaches is not a Mid-Tribulation Rapture and certainly not a Pre-Tribulation rapture but rather a PRE-(God’s)WRATH rapture. A Rapture that occurs after the midpoint of the 70th week (7 year period) but not exactly at the 3 1/2 year midpoint but after the Antichrist does the Abomination of Desolation but before God’s Wrath is released. In Revelation the Rapture is actually described by John in Revelation 7:9–14. Christ words and descriptions in Matthew 24 4–29 mirror and match Revelation 6:1–17. Matthew 24:30&31, or the result of what happens in those verses, are described in Revelation 7:9–14 where, and when, John sees the huge number of people which cannot be numbered suddenly appear in Heaven. He is told that these are those that have come out of the Tribulation years keeping in Christ and Pauls description of the Rapture, a Rapture told by Christ in Matthew 24:30–31 and elaborated on by Paul in his letters to the Corinthians and Thessalonians. Again, I don’t believe the Rapture to be Mid-Trib (or Pre-Trib or Post-Trib) but rather scripturally I believe it to be PRE-WRATH as in happening BEFORE God’s Wrath begins which happens beginning in Revelation 8 and continuing through Revelation 19. | Daniel 12:11 didn’t give any such hint that Jesus approved of. I think that Jesus was thinking of such verses when he said, "But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only" (Matt. 24:36). Jesus's teaching was based on the Book of Daniel, and some of the ideas in the Olivet Prophecy were from that book. So it would be natural for Jesus to tell his disciples that time-prophecy if he believed in it. Later, at the time of the ascension, when the restoration of the kingdom of Israel was under discussion (the primary theme of the Book of Daniel), Jesus repeated to his disciples: "It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority" (Acts 1:6–7). The Hebrew Book of Daniel was shorter than the Septuagint Book of Daniel; and if Jesus had been in charge of the Bible canon he would have made the Book of Daniel even shorter than the Hebrew book. | Daniel 12:11 “And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.” We know Jesus referenced this as the event before his return in glory. The 1,290 days is 3 and 1/2 years. We know that in the book of Revelation we see that again. This shows up after the two witnesses are killed by the Beast (Antichrist) and their bodies are left exposed in Jerusalem for the whole world to see. The world celebrates and sends gifts to one another. But then God breathes life into them and they ascend up into the clouds with Jesus. Then the whole world trembles in fear. At that point the scripture tells us that there will be another 3 1/2 years to the end of the tribulation. This abomination in Daniel 12 clearly shows us this same future event we looked at in Revelation. I believe when the Beast, the false Messiah, the son of perdition, kills the two witnesses, he will set himself up in the newly erected 3rd Temple, to be worshiped. ( The end of the 70th week). The first non-jew that was baptized was Cornelius, an Italian Centurion, he and his family became disciples of Jesus Christ. With prophesies like this one and other events the Jews did not have any excuse to ignore that Jesus was the Messiah. The real quilty ones were the Jewish religious leaders who influenced the common people to reject the privilege to become disciples of Jesus. . . . . .. . . The second Temple was destroyed by the Roman army in 70 CE; The Temple was never rebuilt. Something very important happened in 70 CE that did not happen in 607 . The Babylonians destroyed the Temple, but they did not destroy the record of birth, marriages,etc, these were kept in the Temple. These documents were useful to demonstrate that Jesus was a descended of King David , from the tribe of Judah. Important requirements to verify that Jesus was the Messiah. In 70 CE the Roman army not only destroyed the Temple, they also destroyed all the records of births, marriages ,etc . | Daniel 12:11, 12 is about certain times from the beginning of the great tribulation and during his return after it will have begun. It says nothing about the day and hour of the return of Jesus. Just about two periods of so many days after the beginning of the great tribulation as a milestone for Christians before the end of his return at Armageddon. These verses are not specifically about the return of Jesus but covers time during the great tribulation, which is also the time during which Jesus will return. | A PRAYER FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY Mighty God,1 You are to be desired by all nations,2 yet You gave great freedom to this country. With celebration for our nation’s birth, I come before You with thanksgiving for the freedom bestowed on me each day anew. Praise be to the Lord who granted and preserves our independence! From our earliest days, You have made us a nation of strength and compassion because we sought your favor. John Adams was right when he wrote of Independence Day, saying: “It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.” Have we forgotten that you are our deliverer, refuge, and fortress?3 It is You alone, our Creator, who endows us with the right to the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness our Declaration of Independence speaks of. True freedom is not granted by a piece of paper, but through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our Savior: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 NIV) Let us be forever watchful of our hearts, that we may not blindly fall into the slavery of sin and pride. Instead, let the skies above our land be a reminder of your hand in creation.4 Let their beauty direct us, with thankful spirits, toward Your will in America. Let us embrace the words spoken by Samuel Adams as the Declaration of Independence was being signed: “We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come.” On this Independence Day, we do not celebrate our own accomplishments, but Yours through us.
