 | Does rekordbox do a better job at being better compatible with Windows? I'm experiencing glitching issues and after further research have discovered that serato is better suited with Mac than it is with Windows and I'd have to adjust the latency settings and still no improvement.  | Great video but a few things to note. Rekordbox does not work on all Pioneer controllers. Try connecting it to a DDJ-SZ2 or a DDJ-SX3. Also a huge issue with rekordbox is that even in version 5 they still can’t figure out how to create mixed-media crates which is totally crazy. There are a lot of video-dj’s that need this function and it has never been a priority for pioneer. As far as functionality they are very similar. Serato is definitely a lot faster when searching songs and much faster to edit the tags too. The truth is that only Virtual Dj can “do it all”. It can play on all controllers and mixers and you can create mixed-media crates. I’m still going to use Serato because it’s what works best for me and you should definitely do what’s best for you.  | Your segment demonstrating Rekordbox working on a Serato controller answered half my question. The other half is "does this work in reverse"? In otherwords, can I play Serato on a Rekordbox controller? I ask because I am in love with the DDJ-1000. I know most Rekordbox controllers come with full versions of Rekordbox, but (as I'm sure you're well aware) most DJ's are still down with Serato (I am as well, but like I said, I love this unit), and that makes it problematic for seemless swapping (via the two USB ports) if the reverse can't be achieved.  | You didn't mention the situation where you show up with only your RB prepared media to someone else's setup with a computer running RB DJ, and how you can just plug your media in to that computer and play your own prepared music on someone else's system, in case there's no stand alone units available.  | Excellent video. Need some more of your great advice. I am an old school vinyl DJ trying to keep up with the times. I only recently started messing around with the PC and new controller. I have a numark 4 channel that came with virtual DJ. The suite is very simple and i have yet to explore all functions. I still rely on my records but and i'm in the middle regarding with software platform to use and your video made it harder to decide, lol. In any event my friend is also an old school DJ in transition and is unfamiliar with any of the digital technology. I have other questions concerning converting my vinyl records to mp3 files [using the right equipment] but for now we are still trying to figure out software and equipment. I prefer the boards with the screens built in with serato but the newer models come with recordbox. Then there is the CDJ option with the purchase of a mixer but then it starts getting expensive. I have been looking at the Pioneer DJM 900 nexus. Looks sick with the CDJ 1000. The cdj 2000 are $$$$. Sorry for the long windidness. Lots to ask. Hopefully you can shed some light and insight.  | I do exactly the same with Traktor. Instant doubles. Native instruments Audio 6 with Traktor CD time codes or in HID mode. If I want 4 decks also bring my X1 controller. For mobile use Ddj t1 controller. Maybe I change software if they don't release Traktor map for Ddj 1000 because I really like the controller. I change from windows to Mac 4 years ago and I like it more. Don't need to configure asio drivers, it's easy, simple and funcional. Just connect gear and choose it in Traktor. No asio drivers required. I have 8gb ram and I don't use half of it, because Mac system need low resources. I didnt see myself using a laptop without mouse until I try Mac. It's very precise. I have a external USB hub in case I need with AC connection. I still have windows at home to play games, but for work only Mac.  | You guys have got it all wrong, DJM900nxs/nxs2 supports serato DJ. Just need to plug it directly in its USB port and use the CDJ either as DVS or as HID. And while in HID you can use everything on serato the same way as rekordbox, including the hotcues, Qwerty search and DDJ SP1 or other controllers (you don’t need an either net hub or anything). I use both serato and rekordbox, but if you are a VDJ you will any day go for Serato DJ, on the other hand rekordbox dj crashes every time you run 2 videos with effects. Serato dj allows you to use MP4 (which i use for VDJ) as mp3 when am not doing a visual set where as I need to have my rekordbox updated to VDJ mode to use the MP4 and it will play with the video along with it which eventually crashes.  | Great Video!!! I was going to avoid record box but now I see the light. I'm sorry but I never been a fan of serato and Time code. When it came to the SSL VS a MIDI controller. I'm a VDJ 8 user and everything you mentioned in is video I was able to do years ago. Can you do a comparison with VDJ Serato and Recordbox? It would be interesting. I have not met a controller yet I couldn't use with VDJ. After you load your song with VDJ and accidently pull out your ssd drive or usb stick from your computer the music still plays.
