 | Enter Turtle WoW, where a class rework allowed ret paladins to do good pve dmg, and prot paladins get a taunt. Unfortunately, it broke pvp. Rets can now ROFLSTOMP high armor opponents like warriors and feral druids, and a good priest using dispels and mana burn, or maybe a hunter spamming viper sting with a scorpid pet to hide poisons may be the only way to deal with them. Alliance win 90% of battles on that server now. Since it's a PVE/RP server, I think making paladins playable in all specs was worth the tradeoff. Now excuse me while I race change to alliance.  | On the subject of ret paladins I do feel you were rather unfair. Assuming you are talking about WSG premades since thats by far the best way to rank up on any private realm, at least for most of the servers lifespan untill the AV changes kick in and its made much faster. While I agree that build for build most teams would prefer a holy paladin over a ret paladin very often your 10man team will already have a resto/feral druid and a holy/prot paladin running the flag, and either a priest or another holy paladin mid field. There is such a thing as to many healers on a team, Its very possible to build a good premade around having any number of ret paladins assuming they are well geared, so to say its not viable is just wrong. The last two teams I played with, both had a ret pala who reached rr14, having a dps who is immune to burst damage and can dispell and cast bop and bof is very useful. 1v1 outside of premades they can be kited but that's far harder to do in WSG, his team mates are simply not going to let you.  | In my opinion Paladin or shaman = shaman (in wow classic). I have two mains : pala and shaman. And seriously, paladin has too much problems in classic. Like you can't even chase at all just to end a 5% life guy. Seriously, you have absolutely 0 slows, only 1 cc (as Palheal), and 0 counterspells. So yes it's pure defensive, but I think in pvp you can't be only defensive. I mean if you are chased, you almost can't cc. And paladin's damage in classic are the weakest. It's just my opinion. :) I've felt so so frustrated with paladin in pvp. In ret, u are kitted and you do 0 dmgs, be serious. You can avoid slows, but you can't slow your ennemy so it's not enough. And as Holly paladin, the only useful spec, you have only defensive skills, and people just run up to you and kick your heals. So you bubble (ye bubble is OP), but after, you are just dead. Just giving to paladins a slow and a kick would change everything I think. And you can see that shamans have many slows and a rangekick that you can use on rank1, and its very strong. IIRC in patch 1.4 Deathcoil got buffed to 2min CD and got an added horror effect. After that warrior really needed to have good reflexes to maintain the 50/50 scenario or did got stomped easily. Oh I hear you screaming "but rogues.., didn't you watched world of roguecraft 3 - 2 - 1? rogues beat all classes blind and naked!" Oh yeah I hear you, and I watched em all and also did start with a rogue main (before switching to warlock because of our Raids demand), so I know the strength and weaknesses of rogues very well. But what the WOR series ignores is, that all other classes got PvP trinkets too. This includes the warlock^^ And with PvP trinkets: NO rogue did had the slightest chance against a good affliction warlock. Affliction > Rogue > Destruction And I guess we don't really need to talk about paper? It's NOT WORTH to even pull off ANY CDs... and btw, if a warrior can bring up to 3 healsluts with him, I will just rely on a single discipline priest (full mp5 geared to heal even with 0 mana due to mana burn with only the mp5 under heavy pressure) to become an unstoppable duo and overcome any enemies (including enemy setups with warrior + 3 healingsluts + random paper. and yeah, rogues are demoted to paper in BGs from a warlock POV).  | Shamans > Paladin. Horde has the edge over Alliance in PvE and PvP because of a single totem, windfury totem. Everyone knows the big white hits warriors can have, well, give them another one. White hit + White hit (windfury) + Mortal Strike is absolutely wrecking everyone in PvP. The additional rage they generate from windfury totem makes a geared warrior god tier in PvE. Windfury totem is just insanely powerful until blizz decided to remove the spell.  | Lol bullshit video for the most part. Don’t base your class choice on this video, that would be stupid. For instance: Paladin. Ret is absolutely great for PvP. He acts like bubble, LoH and sacrifice are holy paladin only and that a ret paladin does not have this. He says that a ret paladin is easily countered by other classes, not taking the OP paladin skills in consideration. So first he says that paladins have CD’s that can easily change any fight when played defensively, and then says that ret pala is easily countered. Its just not very accurate and I’d say his videos are clickbait. I nearly wreck everything on my ret pala in PvP, even multiple enemies at the same time because of LoH and bubble/heal. Ret pala isn’t just viable in PvP, it’s optimal. Given a pocket healer, a ret pal can go on endlessly supporting the healer and the group with insane damage (SoC procs) and supporting the group in say, WSG. The only thing I agree with is that consumables make Pala a lot better. But this is true for every class. Edit: he finally says that it is harder for Shaman to make a game changing play. What makes shaman unique? Totems, chain heal, and WF totem in particular. Being game changing as a shaman is dropping a WF totem (equals insane burst for melee) and doing chain heals. What is a pala game changing play?
