i was thinking national gaurd had my mind set until i spoke with army recruiter who have me way more real info and decided to go to reserves. i havent enlisted but im in the process of doing so. Im nit sure if im making a right decision tho. i want to continue my education fulltime college but also want to serve. maybe one day active duty also now that i read all these comments saying its hard to go from reserves to active duty and reserve years dont count toward the 20 yr to become a vet thing😭making me feel like i am making wrong deicion i also have a job which consists of 2 months during the summer which id really like to keep because for 18 yrs old it is a good job to have. And i dont want to leave my dog becayse active duty. Am i making wrong decision for reserves?😭

Join the Guard first, get your school 100% paid for. Then join the Reserves later if you want a different job or promotion, or a bonus 💰.

Don't forget the Tour of Duty site to apply and pick up an ADOS tour. These are short active duty tours per MOS/job and Rank that is needed in different locations. It's easy to apply once you been in the Reseves a couple years. There is AGR as well Active Guard Reserve: Full time Reservist or Guard. That is an application as well online and usually takes anywhere from weeks to months for acceptance depending on which MOS/jobs are needed most. Note that it's considered active duty as well, so you can be stationed where they need you most at the same time, they may work with you where you would like to be stationed too, but it's not always guaranteed like regular active duty. Hope this helps a little as well. Blessings all. Good video on giving some of your input to future Soldiers!

I wanna join the military! A guy said the only people that will take me is the army. I was a search track and rescue field medic for over five years. The marine guys said no they also laughed me out of the office. They also didn’t have a combat patch. So I told them a few stories of my days. They immediately shut the fuck up because they were fucking cherries. Right now with gas, idk, I think this could be good for me. I need to find a brotherhood.

Can someone give me some advice, I don’t want to leave Arizona, but willing to go to war if needed. Right now, I love my house. I have never had one, but I need something more.
Advice???!! Please?!! National guard or reserves?

Joined the reserves 6 years ago, and regret it every day since💔Should’ve went to Active duty. I didn’t know(even after asking) that I won’t get the full Post GI bill until after I accumulate active duty time(which takes YEARS). Problem is since I have no stability, I have to work 3-4 CIVILIAN jobs & be a part-time reservist it’s almost impossible to go to school full time(even online;did it for 1 1/2 years; failed miserably). Also they don’t tell you it’s hard to get tours or active duty time if your unit doesn’t have any money(or simply won’t approve you if there’s more critical jobs than yours or if there are higher ranking members requesting to get time as well). In 6 years, I’ve NEVER deployed & only got to do “extra time” ONCE at my home station for only 6 months. I’ve begged and pleaded with my unit to allow me to transfer to the active duty component(or to another reserve unit) and they’ve denied it for 4 years. My enlistment is up and I’m unsure what to do since being a reservist has given me only 1 benefit: which is cheap health insurance.

@Programsean
It is ok what some
Ppl here are telling you to transfer out of reserve to NG, I basically got all the benefits I need from doing COVID orders for more than a year,
TA, EDD, VA Loan, GI Montgomery,
Post 911, & much more

COVID orders was FT state active & T32 federal active duty.

Be aware Ofcourse
Being in the NG will affect your college completion in some cases when we re called upon a minor or major disaster duty, only few exceptions from it
If you’re Paramedic, law enforcement & any civilian 1st responder jobs.
However it seems you’re doing great.
I am currently gonna transfer out into
Reserve cause I’m not in anymore for
Disaster duties because it’s pay is not good unless you’re higher rank & have a completion of 10 year service and get a pay raise for serving 10 years.

That’s the story, however the more years you put into, the better for retirement,
If you know how to hustle the tsp very well that’s good too.

Be aware it’s awesome going active duty
Or transferring to active duty cause the benefits are more amazing especially getting paid per diem monthly too, however the rules are getting a lot more tougher today.

I am on active duty here in New Mexico
For one year & have to tell you
I am not happy with all the regulations coming from brigade level to a point that I am not allowed to even have my civilian Register weapon & much more according to having a battle with you at all times when going somewhere.

So just keep that in mind
However it’s up to you what you want in your own army set goals.

Stay safe battle.

I know this video is kind of old 😭😭 I just don’t know what to do. I’ve been wanting to joint for the past 3 years. In 2020 I decided I wanted to be an LPN. This year I talked to a recruiter and was told I could become a 68c which is an LPN I’m the Army. A free license with no student loan debt sounds amazing. But I get scared Bc I’m 22 and I know I will have to wait a while for the MOS something I feel like I can’t do it. I just don’t want to make the wrong decision I feel like I’ll be 30 I’m the blink of an eye lol I feel so much pressure to get things done

@Shekinah Chi  Or you can Transfer to the Army National Guard, from the Army Reserve. Both Are Reserve Components of the Active Army. Talk with your Battalion Retention NCO. Who will put in touch with a Army National Guard Recruiter. Or you can just go and talk with a Army National Guard Recruiter your self. And the Army Guard Recruiter will get a conditional release signed by your company Commander Battalion Commander all the way up to division. To release you from the Army Reserve and start the transfer process to the Army National Guard. That's if your chain of Command will release you. Same go's if you go Active Army. And also if the Active Army, or the Army National Guard will have a Job Slot for you in your MOS. And your ASVAB GT and line Scores are good. And your APFT Scores are good. And NCOER's, and or evaluation reports are good. No article 15s. your attendance is good. Your Medical MPROS is good. You must be green on everything. I served in all three Components of the United States Army. Active Army, Army Reserve, Army National Guard. Through out my Army Career.

@1madinjun
Advice:
Get EVERYTHING you can while you're IN. Because If you don't get activated and do all your time only doing drills and ACTIVE DUTY TRAINING you will not be considered a Vereran. This is what happened to me and A LOT of other Reservists who get out and realize they cannot call themself a Vet or get anything from the VA. Remember if you're a Reservist you can go Active but not vice versa. My advice, go Active Duty the Reserves have a lot of pitfalls and NO!!! do not go National Guard, even worse benefits wise.

I loved the video!! I'm a college freshman (bachelor) and I want to accomplish a doctor's degree (in the future), my experience until now is that "university cost a LOT" and recently I got an orientation of the reserve and active. if it's possible to give your opinion, it has been beneficial in joining the reserve while studying and have you fall behind on your studies? and Thank you for the video!!!

I'm considering enlisting with the Reserves once I complete my bachelor's degree July 2020. I have plans to get my Master's degree with a college that has an Army ROTC & become a simultaneous member and commission as an officer once done. Do you think joining the Guard over Reserves for this is better? Benefits & tuition assistance wise lol.

I was supposed to join the army out of high school but long story short I ended taking the ASVAB four times and i had to take it a fifth time so I gave up on it. I’m currently 18 and work at amazon making about 18/hr but I want to go to college be more productive then going to work and going back home I’m thinking about joining the reserve for benefits in the long run. Do you recommend?

The amount of tuition assistance is the same amount within the Reserve, Gaurd and Active Duty (active duty also gets the post 9/11 GI bill). There are plenty of schools that are what is called "yellow ribbon schools" that will lower their tuition to meet the Army tuition assistance rates. Basically its pretty easy to go to school full time and have it all paid for even when you are in the Reserve. You have to talk to the VA representative that every school is required to have.

Ok so this is probably a stupid question but when you sign that 6 year contract, does your time in college while your serving part-time count? and then you only have 2 years left after you get out of college? Or does that mean you have to serve active duty for 6 years after you finish college?
