When doing a deficit then a refeed, does anyone know how drastic the cut should be in terms of calories? Let’s say I do a two week deficit and a one week re feed. Thank you. Goal is of course to loose body fat and not effect metabolism.

Do you count all protein sources (breads, meats, etc) or only complete protein sources (meats, milk) when using the 1lb per body weight formula? I currently count only complete protein sources

I LOVE my carb refeed. Once a week and normally double(ish) my carb amount. I feel so much better, muscle feel fuller and I have a total body “pump”. I do this once a week, wouldn’t mind it twice a week to test the waters when I’m leaner.

Any possible reasons why I’d be hungrier On a refeed day?
Every meal is the same but I just increased carbs on each meal by 50g also adding 2 bananas to the day n 50g oats.
My calorie intake is up by 500 than usual

I tried it over the weekend and did not like how hungry I was on Monday. Perhaps I did it wrong. I didn’t go over my calorie deficit numbers but only manipulated the carb macros VS fat and proteins. I enjoyed the mental break for sure but in my opinion, for me, I didn’t like the resulting hunger I felt.

😂I was amazed with “double refeed”, after the second refeed my weight only gain 1 lb, I planned only up 25% cals but I ended up maybe 2 times my cals.. only gain 1 lb😂

This makes it sound very complex and tedious. If I’m doing flexible dieting where I know that my protein is good, but I’m maintaining a 500-750 calorie deficit (based on weight loss average over two weeks)... could I not simply add an extra meal of 500 calories on my refeed day?

Definitely think it’s beneficial and a more progressive method in the road to show. Not to disown the earlier methods, because they still have some place in protocols. But as life goes on, human bodies adapt and so must we as coaches leading people to their goals!

Am on 1800 cal... 180 p C 160 F 50 and am 73kg .quite lean... i do doublr refeed 2500 cal n i bounce to 74kg.... is my refeed too much or am holding water or salt

Hey, Paul. I landed here from the video you posted today. I've always been super interested in keeping the metabolism up as long as possible while dieting, so hopefully this question is relevant.

Should refeeds be reserved for people who are already fairly deep into the diet? As in, should life already suck a little bit before refeeding? I just ask because I dropped from 3100 to 2600 calories and have lost 7 pounds so far - all as planned. I'd say I'm around 18% BF now. 2600 feels very sustainable, but would there still be benefits to doing a refeed at some point? My guess would be no since I'm not even beach lean yet, but I figured I'd ask in case you were still keeping tabs on these comments and responding.

I have heard that 5-10 days and then refeeds in a row are better. Currently I’m doing two refeeds a week but I split them up to keep my sanity with the same calorie numbers (2300), is this okay- or is there a better benefit to be in lower calories for longer (ie 5 days), and then do two refeeds back to back

How much carb should I eat on refeed days I weight 78kg 5 foot 10 I am cutting now but I need to know so when I do a refeed I know how much I am eating properly about 75g of carbs or less on a cut low carb diet 🙂

Paul, can you do a video on maintaining muscle whilst cutting and the physiological battle with thinking your turning into a stick thin guy. I'm currently around 9% fat (skin fold measurements) but I'm looking flat and stressing that my muscle is melting away

I'm a mail carrier getting 27,000 steps at least a day, with a route with plenty of hills and steps. Some cardio light cardio in the gym with strength training about 5 days a week.

Today was a refeed day (or as I like to call it.. I completely effed up and ate nachos because I was starving)... So, ya, back on track tomorrow! Been doing fantastic, so sure why not sabotage myself... rant over :)

What do you think about cycling calories? If my maintanance is at 3.000kcal daily and I am on a surplus of 300kcal, so 3300kcal daily (23.100kcal per week), what do you think about eating 2500kcal for 5 days of the week and 5300kcal for each of the other 2 days (so getting those 23.100kcal for the week splitted differently ? I want to build some muscle and lose a few pounds of fat too.
I tried this and I feel it helps me to enjoy some bigger meals some days and also to get and feel leaner when I am in that 500kcal deficit for 5 days per week. What's your phisique coach opinion about this? Does it have any bad impact on building some muscle? Thanks very much

Did anyone else get a weirdly euphoric feeling when in a significant caloric deficit? I had less physical energy, and I spent much of each day thinking about food. But I would also wake up like: "YES! I LOVE BEING ALIVE! HOLY SHIT LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL THOSE TREES ARE! I WISH ALL THE BEST TO THESE STRANGERS ON THE THE STREET!"

I am struggling with my cut at the moment! I am a small female (150 cm and 47 kg) and my maintenance calories are 1800 calories. I was underweight last year so I have bulked my way up and gained 10kg. I was bulking on 2200 calories with a consistant split of weight training for 5 months. Since march I wanted to cut down for summer so started eating 1800 again but didn't lose any weight. Then I ate 1600 and 1500 and now 1350 calories while doing 30 min cardio EVERY DAY! since march until now I have only lost 1 kg and I'm really upset about that. I still comit and follow my deficit but on some days I even gain weight. I know that this means that my metabolism has caught up with the new low calories but I legit can't lower them any further while still hitting my protein and fat goals. Should I do a diet break or a week of refeed to push fat loss again? I only want to lose about 3-4 kg but I hate that it isn't going like I have planned to. Could you help me out with what I have to do?
