 | Just watched this on Prime. I must say, as bad a movie as it is, and make no mistake, it IS a bad film, but Travolta at least TRIES to do something with the role. Call me insane but I sort of liked what he brought to the table. Over the top, fake NY accent, did what he does best. He gave the role a little Travolta-ism! But the film, Madonn’!  | I finally watched the movie Gotti staring John Travolta. It's my understanding the Gotti family, especially John JR. Insisted on having creative input to ensure an accurate portrayal of the real John Gotti. That being said, why didn't they include a scene of John Gotti getting his ass kicked for popping off at the mouth to the wrong prisoner while serving his life sentence. The Gotti family seem to have such great reverence and respect for John Gotti Sr. when in reality Gotti was the stupidest mob boss in history.  | Awful movie. John Travolta looks no more like John Gotti than my dick does. He looks like John Travolta desperately trying to make himself look like someone who...doesn't remotely look like John Gotti. More like a Florida real estate hustler, who has caught a whiff of something unpleasant. No one in the movie is believable. No one looks, or acts like an Italian gangster in the movie. They are all flat, wooden actors/actresses. It's more like a Lifetime network rip off of The Departed, than anything to do with the Italian mob. The movie jumps all over the place. If you so much as blink (or nod off) you'll miss three flash backs, and five flash forwards. If you have arthritis in your thumbs, get someone else to work the volume buttons on the remote. The dialogue is too quiet, so you will be cranking it up. Then, out if nowhere BAM, ridiculously loud music comes on. Down the volume goes. Even at a reasonable volume setting, the music is overpowering. The editing is shit. I managed 40 minutes of this movie, before I switched over to the shitty weird seasons of Archer (after ISIS). As weak as those are, they are more entertaining, and, make more sense than this steaming pile of shit. There is a Gotti movie from 20 years ago that makes this look like a high school drama project.  | It was a GREAT movie about a real community leader/anti-government, business hero and capitalist icon. The TRUE STORY its based on is amazing beyond any other gangster story ever told beside maybe the very formation of the Mafia Commission itself in the year 1931.  | To my knowledge there are 3 movies that feature the story of John Gotti - (Gotti - Armand Assante / Anthony Quin) , Witness to the Mob (Perspective of Sammy the Bull) & Boss of Bosses (Perspective of Paul Castalano) - - - This movie featuring Travolta is possibly the worst piece of acting which is accompanied by the most confusing sequence of scenes (if you know the facts you will get it but god help you if u dont). Still trying to figure why the hell John Travolta played this role and got behind this movie, he did a terrible job. Bought the dvd because i got sucked in by the previews.
