| Apple Valley. Founded by Newton T. Bass who wanted to make it a "whites only" community, where every other ethnicity would only be allowed "as servants of the homeowners" The following is exactly what was written into every land or property deed even into the late 70's per my personal experience. --> “No part of said property shall be used or occupied or permitted to be used or occupied in whole or in part by any person of African or Asiatic descent or by any person not of the white or Caucasian race, except that domestic servants, chauffeurs, hostlers, laborers, farm-hands, or gardeners of other than white or Caucasian race may live on or occupy the premises where their employer resides.” It amazes me that Apple Valley still doesn't recognize this history, that some have actually pressed to have it glossed over, and that no one has ever challenged the naming of the stadium at the High School where people of all ethnicities are taught. All the good that Apple Valley can provide is stained by the man who founded it.
